I asked for a refund, but they charged me a 10% handling fee. I exchanged 50,000 USDT, but they charged me a 5,000 USDT handling fee. This is no different from robbery, it's a scam!

I used SwapSpace to swap USDC to USDT, and my transaction was routed through ChangeHero. That’s when everything went sideways. They suddenly demanded additional verification — not through a secure KYC provider with proper data protection policies, but by asking me to email my documents directly to them. That’s a massive red flag. This is exactly how sensitive data ends up on the darknet and gets exploited by criminals for KYC fraud on other platforms. I refused to send my documents via email, and as a result, my funds were frozen. Now they’re saying I might get only $90,000 back, while they’ll keep $10,000 as a so-called "processing fee" per their policy — an outrageous and predatory practice. It gets worse: when I requested a refund, their support agent sent me the wrong wallet address and asked me to confirm it. I can't say for sure if it was an honest mistake or a deliberate attempt to misdirect funds — but either way, it's extremely suspicious. Stay far away from ChangeHero. They are either dangerously incompetent or straight-up scammers.

I wanted to make an exchange of 0.5 BTC to LTC through SwapSpace and I made the very bad decision to choose Changehero for this exchange. ChangeHero blocked my 0.5 BTC under the pretext of KYC. I provided an ID and a photo of myself as initially requested by Changehero. But that did not unblock the situation. Changehero then sent me this second message: "Thank you for providing the required documents for KYC verification. After checking the documents, the compliance team deemed it necessary to request additional information. We kindly ask you to provide us with your phone number and a statement from your mobile operator confirming that the number is registered under the same name as in your documents. We also ask you to provide the source of funds. This is the document that represents the origin of the funds that were sent to ChangeHero for the exchange (e.g. your transaction history where it is clear that the account belongs to you, your crypto purchase sent for fiat, bank statement or other documents demonstrating the fact that you obtained the amount of crypto in question). We would like to ask you to demonstrate: - how you obtained the fiat currency to buy cryptocurrencies (or simply your source of fiat income confirmed by a bank statement or tax declaration) - how you purchased the cryptocurrency (supported by screenshots screen shot of your verified account on a major crypto platform that you use)" This type of verification is normally only requested by major exchanges when reselling in fiat currencies. Never for a simple crypto to crypto exchange, have I seen such questions in almost 10 years of cryptos. Changehero then told me that if I did not want to submit to such sensitive and dangerous questions for my security, it could in this case refund my 0.5 BTC minus 10% fees. Yes, you read that right: 10% FEES!!! I am a French citizen and I have always made my crypto declarations and paid my crypto tax every year to the tax authorities of my country. But I refused to transmit such confidential information to an exchange like ChangeHero that I know very little about and even less by email as requested. I waited 3 days in anxiety for my refund. Changehero ended up refunding me 0.45 BTC and not 0.50 BTC. So Changehero took 0.05 BTC from me, or nearly $5,000 at the current rate!!! ChangeHero hides behind the KYC/AML crypto regulations and their internal rules that allow them to keep 10% of the sums if they consider that the supporting documents provided are not sufficient. However, I provided an ID, a photo of myself and even a screenshot of my wallet with the sending of the 0.5 BTC in question. I am disgusted by such practices and I will consult my legal protection to find out whether or not I should take legal action on this mishap.

Warning! ChangeHero is a dangerous exchange that sometimes take your money. It’s not a trustless contract. I have lost a large amount of money that they refused to return or complete the exchange. They simply kept the money. The company is incorporated in Central America and it is probably a paper company with no physical address to take any responsibility.

Shame on me for trusting an exchange that SwapSpace has flagged as Medium KYC Risk. The problem is not that occasionally they would request you to identify yourself. The problem is that once you send the money, they may hold your funds hostage and wont even return them if you do not submit sensitive information like your passport and picture over email, which anyone knows is a very insecure channel to send that kind of information. If you do not agree, they say they can refund your money but only after deducting 10% of the token sent. For a large enough transaction that can be an absurd se amount. If the transaction is small, the minimum deduction is US$ 100. Apart from the insecure channel, who knows who is receiving that email. They are supposedly incorporated in Costa Rica, but it seems to be a paper company. ChangeHero should be ousted from SwapSpace, or at a minimum flagged as High Risk.
